RACQ CapRescue is a vital, life-saving service, providing world-class, efficient, rapid deployment of medical & rescue teams to major accidents, workplace incidents, inter-hospital transfers, counter disaster & search missions to the communities of Central Queensland. Our community based, not-for-profit, registered charity was incorporated in December 1995 & commenced operations on 26 January 1996.The Service encompasses the entire CQ region, an area of over 350,000km2 & keeps a community of more than 300,000 people safe. Due to its vertical rescue capabilities, our aircraft can rescue individuals in the most hostile & dangerous environments, that conventional methods cannot achieve. On average, the helicopter completes more than one task per day. All rescue services are provided free of charge - 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. From our state-of-the-art facility in Rockhampton, we have a flight time of 15 mins to Great Keppel Island, 28 mins to Gladstone & 60 mins to Emerald; coupled with direct access to the Rockhampton Base Hospital helipad, we provide timely response to critical care needs. We work closely with other medical & aeromedical services to provide a solution to emergency medical challenges faced working in remote areas. In addition to emergency transportation of patients, we can provide on-ground medical support for various periods of time. Since 1996 our dedicated team has provided all of these services to the CQ region for free. However, the operating costs are projected in the vicinity of $10.3 million. Whilst we receive significant funding from the Queensland Government, we are still required to raise almost 40% via valuable partnerships, funding, events & donations from within the communities we service. The generosity & continued growth of these valuable partnerships are as vital to RACQ CapRescue as our Service is to our community.
