RadWaste Consulting Ltd. (RWCL) offers expertise in the management and regulation of radioactive waste to the nuclear industry. Peter Flavelle, President of RWCL, has 25 years of experience in critically reviewing radioactive waste management programs and practices and environmental impact assessments for the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and its predecessor, the Atomic Energy Control Board (AECB). During his tenure with the nuclear regulator, Mr. Flavelle authored the CNSC Regulatory Policy P-290 "Managing Radioactive Wastes" and was lead author of the CNSC Regulatory Guide G-320 "Assessing the Long Term Safety of Radioactive Waste Management". Mr. Flavelle was the CNSC representative and an active participant in several technical sub-committees of the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency's Radioactive Waste Management Committee (NEA/RWMC): the Advisory Group on In Situ Research and Investigation for Geologic Disposal (ISAG); the Coordinating Group on Site Evaluation and Design of Experiments (SEDE); the International Project on the Transport of Radionuclides in Heterogeneous Geologic Media (GEOTRAP); the Forum on Stakeholder Confidence (FSC); and the Integration Group for the Safety Case (IGSC). Mr. Flavelle also contributed to preparing the first national report to the Joint Convention on the Safety of Spent Fuel Management and the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management, and has also provided critical review of a number of draft IAEA standards and guides
