Railex Corp was formed in 1954 by WWII veterans Sam and Abe Rutkovsky. After the war, the brothers worked as steamfitters in the laundry industry. While working on boilers and steam equipment, they noticed a need for tubular metal racks and conveyors to handle garments on hangers (GOH). Thus, in 1954, they began operating Railex out of their garage. The first Railex products were tubular metal racks and conveyors to ease garment handling. The business quickly expanded to produce all types of racking, conveyors, and trolleys used in the garment industry. For the following 60 years, Sam and Abe developed products for greenhouse businesses and other industrial needs. In early 2017, the brothers, who were now in their late 80s and early 90s, sold Railex to Steve Shybunko and Richard Sobel. Steve and Richard both have strong manufacturing and management backgrounds and are working to improve the products that have made Railex famous.
