Rainbow Hospice Care is a community based not-for-profit organization that provides a full spectrum of physical, emotional and spiritual care to terminally ill patients and their families. Founded in 1990, Rainbow Hospice Care serves residents in and around Jefferson County.Hospice services are provided by an integrated team of doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, social workers, grief counselors, clergy, trained volunteers, and others. Together, these sensitive and compassionate professionals work closely with the patient, his or her family, and/or other primary caregivers according to their own specific needs and desires. Hospice services are generally covered by Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurance plans. When a patient is ineligible for coverage or otherwise uninsured, care is never denied due to inability to pay.The patients we serve may have any type of life-limiting illness such as cancer; heart, lung, kidney and liver diseases; stroke; Parkinson's disease; Alzheimer's; and ALS; with a life expectancy of less than a year. Regardless of age, race, gender, faith, ethnicity, insurance coverage or economic status, we treat all of our patients and their loved ones with the same respect, kindness and concern—focusing on quality of life, maintaining comfort and dignity, and providing expert support tailored to each individual's unique needs and wishes.
