Entertainment - Rio de Janeiro, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Rato BranKo is an experimental lab for arts & entertainment brought to life in an exhibition back in 2011 by brazilian contemporary artists Raul Mourão and Cabelo. At the time, Rato BranKo was a staged producer (Raul) and his team responsible for setting up a made up MC's (Cabelo) live performance; they recorded an album and set up a "Baile Funk" in the exhibition opening. In 2016 they joined their workspaces in a single building in Lapa, one of Rio de Janeiro's touristic neighborhoods. Ever since they've experimented connecting with a larger audience, taking in the surroundings and the population and inserting them into their body of work. In the most recent years, Rato Branko developed into an experimental lab, connected to their personal ateliers. It became a common ground to try new formats and connections, collaborating with other artists and professionals from other fields. Partnerships, exhibitions, concerts, live performances, shows and carnival street parties have been some of the latest activities.During the COVID-19 pandemic, an e-commerce was set up on Rato BranKo's website and new segments developed, targeting digital media; #RBKOTV, Rato Branko's YouTube channel, in which interviews, edited video content and lives are streamed, and RBKO Playlists, in which invites are sent out to DJs and friends to make playlists that get published in #RBKO's Spotify profile (a symbolic value is given to each participant, as a financial aid during lockdown), as well as a means to connect to other projects and networks.
