Primary/secondary Education - London, England, United Kingdom
50% of people in prison have a reading age of 12 or below. Only 10% of children who leave primary as a poor reader get decent GCSEs.We exist to dramatically change things. We work with excellent schools, local authorities and multi-academy trusts to turn struggling readers into confident readers. We do this through evidence-based, online literacy programmes and interventions.Evidence is important to us. To date studies have been conducted by Cambridge University and the Department for Education (DfE). The evidence shows that ReadingWise increases reading age by an average of over 9 months in under 20 hours, and is 78% faster at improving reading than usual lessons. Our programmes enable 1 teaching assistant to work with groups of 10 pupils. We cover decoding and comprehension.
