Civic & Social Organization - San Antonio, Texas, United States
From housing to transit to education and equity, we know that cities all over the country have countless struggles to consider as they brace for today's most pressing challenges. We know that San Antonio is expecting 1 million new residents by the year 2040 - and we also know that one of San Antonio's main challenges is to plan for a transit and mobility future that will ensure quality of life for residents and visitors alike. After Robby Brown, Rocío Guenther, Mike Terrell, Domingo Villareal, and Marlene Romo Flores joined the Alexander Briseño Leadership Development Program they were tasked to focus on Transit and come up with a project that would move the needle in San Antonio. The group decided to create ReadySAGo!, a group focused on pushing conversations forward to educate residents about the city's mobility successes and challenges. What was an action team presentation in a leadership program soon turned into a full-fledged effort to host conversations around the city focused on transit and mobility. The goal? To activate the San Antonio community and engage them in discussions on multimodal transportation options with the goal of furthering development opportunities for our city. Since its inception in December 2018, ReadySAGo! has hosted 7 panel discussions at breweries across San Antonio, including in the urban core footprint for San Antonio Startup Week, and the organization has reached more than 300 residents. The civic engagement group has partnered with nonprofits, local news media organizations, and elected officials to move conversations forward on transit by gathering, educating, and activating residents to learn about their city and get involved.Help us move forward to support our city of tomorrow! #GOWithUs
