A young professional company dedicated to democratizing theatrical performance through site-specific classical work.Rebellious Subjects Theatre began in the summer of 2008 somewhere between Bedford Avenue and Jackson Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. At the time, the bare-bones company was comprised of the dual minds of Lauren Ferebee and Patrick Woodall, two overzealous Stella-Adlerites bent on bringing Shakespeare to the patrons of NYC bars. Their sole objective in starting the company was the inaugural production of Twelfth Night - over many late-night conversations and too-long meetings, a newfound purpose developed: creating a new kind of classic theatre that would open up a dialogue between the text of a play and its performance space.
