Rebuilding Together is the largest volunteer organization in the U.S. dedicated to rehabilitating homes for low-income seniors and disabilities. While Rebuilding Together does the majority of our work two times of the year: National Rebuilding Day in April and our Fall Work Event. The needs of our community, however, are year-round and growing in today's economic crisis. Consequently, thanks to new funding from the Morning Glory Family Foundation we have recently begun a Safe-At-Home program to serve our low-income disabled and elderly clients outside of these two Rebuilding events. All too often, low-income homeowners are unaware of the actual costs of a repair and will live without heat or in unsafe circumstances because they are unsure of how to proceed and the costs of the repair are beyond their means. The ability to reach out in our community and respond quickly to smaller, yet urgent needs at no cost to the homeowner is a valuable and timely service, one that can be uniquely met by RTABE due to our long-time experience and reputation in this community.
