Rebuilding Together Southeast Michigan (RTSEM) was founded in 1992 originally as Christmas in April and formerly changed its name to Rebuilding Together Oakland County in 1997. The organization primarily served the community on National Rebuild Day the last Saturday of April engaging 1,000 volunteers and serving 50 homeowners a year. In November 2016 we served our 1,000th homeowner in Holly Michigan, completing an ADA approved wheelchair accessible bathroom project. In January, 2018 we officially changed our name to Rebuilding Together Southeast Michigan when we decided to expand service to Oakland County and Jefferson Chalmers neighborhood in Wayne County. Our five year plan includes expansion to multiple neighborhoods in Wayne County and Macomb County while continuing service in Oakland County. To date, we have served 1,102 homeowners and added over $8 million dollars in market value to the community. Our services focus on making homes safer for the homeowners and their families so they can remain in their home.
