The internet has a lot of efficacious features. It allows fast access to a lot of information and people that otherwise would have been out of reach, however, the internet also allows for a lot of negativity as well. As recent social media trends suggest that there is an increase in hate speech online and especially on social media. The flexibility offered by the internet, combined with anonymity has made it a lot easier for the propagators of hate to harass people online and curb their freedom of expression.We are Reclaim Internet Project, a team of 8 students from Acropolis Group of Institutions, Indore, trying to reclaim internet from hate and extremism, and creating a culture which encourages creating informed opinions and disagreeing with respectReclaim Internet Project is an idea - and a hope - that a culture can be created where conflict is natural, necessary and even welcomed as long as there is respect for individual identity and informed opinion. We are going to ensure people are more responsible towards what they post, and social media platforms are more accountable for what they host.
