Founded by New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu in 2018, the Recovery Friendly Workplace Initiative helps businesses strengthen their workforce by providing them with the tools and resources they need to develop workplace cultures that are supportive to those in recovery or who are impacted by Substance Use Disorder (SUD) more generally. In doing so, businesses are able to leverage recovery as an asset in the workplace, all the while drawing upon the benefits that come along with creating a more supportive, open workplace culture, including increased productivity, greater customer and employee loyalty, and less turnover and absenteeism. The Recovery Friendly Workplace Initiative is working with over 255 workplaces in New Hampshire, representing approximately 70,000 employees, and has now been embraced by 15 states across the nation.
