For the past six years, more than 1,630 volunteers have participated in clearing 49,436 pounds of trash from the Red River and its surrounding areas. But how does so much trash get into the river in the first place? Not only is RRC raising litter awareness by our annual event, Shreveport/Bossier citizens are now thinking twice before dropping that piece of trash on the ground or flicking that cigarette. Instead, they are conscience of the affect litter and trash has on our two beautiful cities. A healthy, clean city thrives and grows. A healthy, clean city is attractive to new businesses and families that want to set roots. We encourage everyone to think about the impact littering has not only on the Red, but our neighborhoods.
