RSF's mission is "Spreading Hope by Growing Healthy Communities and Sustainable Ecosystems." We have four primary programs: * Educational Soup Kitchen: We serve Batwa children weekly through a soup kitchen program. They come to the RSF Community House, where we feed them a nutritious meal, remove parasitic jiggers from their feet, and teach them educational games, sports, hygiene and other activities.* Hope Stone Academy for Batwa: Our small early learning center for Batwa children serves pre-school level classes. We teach the Uganda curriculum, provide nutritious meals, and teach about their indigenous culture.* Artisan Co-op Livelihood Project, We buy handmade baskets from local women at a fair trade price, and resell them in the US. All funds go back to RSF and community development projects for the indigenous Batwa in SW Uganda.* Community Development: Under the guidance of the local Batwa village of Kalehe, we havegotten clean water to the village (2 taps stands piped via gravity water scheme from a freshwater spring in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park). Led by the Batwa themselves, RSF and the villagers have built 3 mud homes for single Batwa women, have improved the community, have built a bridge and other projects. We also hire and train local women and men from the community in social work, education and working to improve their own lives while helping others through these programs.
