In 2010 I built my first Reef Aquarium.Soon after I realized I the need to remotely control some aquarium equipments and water parameters. With those issues in mind I start working on solutions to accomplish that. First it started with an Android Application that with given some URL or IP Address (my Home Internet Address) I could make a Ping/Port-Scan in a cycle of 1-2 hours and know if I have Internet / Electricity at Home. Electricity is crucial for a Reef Aquarium and is what keeps it alive.After that I evolved to a more elaborated solution. With an Arduino with lots of sensors and Internet access I could monitor on a regular basis (15 minutes) everything I what and upload data to a serve and access it online.
