The Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD) was established in Nairobi, Kenya in 1975 under the auspices of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and the then Organization of African Unity, today African Union. It is an inter-governmental organization and currently has 20 contracting Member States in the Eastern and Southern Africa Regions namely; Botswana, Burundi, Comoros, Ethiopia, Eswatini, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Namibia, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, South Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.Vision To be premier centre of excellence in provision of geo-information, allied technologies for sustainable development in the member States & other stakeholders Our MissionTo promote sustainable development through generation, application and dissemination of Geo-Information and allied Information Communication Technology (ICT) services and products in the Member States and beyond.
