Regional Development Australia (RDA) is an Australian Government initiative that brings together all levels of government to enhance the economic development of Australia's regions. A national network of RDA committees has been established to achieve this objective. There are 52 committees nationally, including nine in WA. RDA committees are non-profit community based organisations. The RDA Great Southern WA Committee (RDA-GS) has 10 members, each appointed to represent the community, business and local government. These committee members are from private enterprise, education, local government, natural resources, management and regional development. The principal role of RDA-GS is to provide a conduit between all three levels of government and the community to promote a better understanding of regional requirements. Focus areas include:* To promote and support investment in industry and infrastructure development* To facilitate and work collaboratively with the providers of education, training and employment* Partner with others to enhance, value, protect and manage the diverse and unique environment* Advocate the encourage community social and economic development
