Rehack is the first collegiate-level reverse hackathon. Instead of the conventional hackathon practice of building products by first identifying a problem in need of a technical solution, participants first identify a problem within existing consumer technology and work in teams to prototype a solution that improves the product. We are focused on re-engineering the hackathon model to to encourage the development of creative solutions that allow for greater and healthier relationships between people and technology. Instead of the purely technical focus of hackathons, this event has a broader focus on product management, UI/UX design, and human-computer interaction. Our ultimate goal is to gather people from diverse backgrounds to critically think about the tech they use and how to "re-hack" tech to be healthier, fairer, and more humane.
