Hey, we're Jacynta and Johanna,two local Vancouver girls who have a love for thrifting, candles, sustainability and ethical business. We created Relix Candle Collective by accident, while making gifts for our families on a budget. We have since expanded to producing higher quantities of candles out of our parents' backyard, selling at local markets, private home sales, and now, online. Each of our candles are hand selected and repurposed from vintage trinkets found at local thrift stores or by donation. We hand-pour natural soy wax into each canister and scent with both essential oils and natural-based candle fragrances; all out of a backyard shed (under all weather conditions). In the past months since our first batch of candles in early 2019, we have become protective and passionate about maintaining our sustainable business model: sourcing locally and maintaining our long (yet very enjoyable) candle-making process. Throughout our journey of trial and error, wax burns, power outages and spills - we have learned a few things. We have learned to perfect each pour, balance our scent-to-wax ratio, and select the perfect wick for each individually shaped candle. We have discovered that each unique candle has a destined owner, and that owner should be able to refill their candle soulmate indefinitely. We have learned that our customers care about sustainability and unique local products too. But most of all. we have learned that the community surrounding us is more special than we could have imagined. We cannot wait to see where the rest of our story takes us.
