Reseed.ca transforms forgotten cityscape into vital, food-producing land that provides a bounty to its neighbours and neighbourhood. With the design of highly productive, food-producing gardens in the neighbourhood's unused and underused spaces, we are cultivating life and inspiring positive change. We work to heal public and private spaces for the betterment of the community and actively work to build relationships with and between local businesses and residents; we are all commonly united around the experience of healthy food from healthy soil. We will host workshops in composting, rain collection and sustainable urban agriculture techniques, mobilize land restoration events and create a volunteer stewardship program, pairing people with plants in many creative ways. The expanding network of gardens will form the backbone of a greater cycle of cultivation, abundance, and knowledge, creating a local perennial plant and seed bank to assist and supply neighbours in creating sustainable, food-producing gardens on their own property. The goal is simple: transform the neighbourhood into a garden. Gardens will also serve as the classroom for informal experiential learning, providing both the residents and visitors with a chance to engage in local initiatives promoting food cultivation, security and knowledge. The gardens feed knowledge systems, providing the backdrop to the first generation of documentation of wisdom acquired through practice. Our goal is to offer knowledge sharing, a plant and seed database, a map of the public and private gardens, tools for other groups to plot their gardens and build detailed maps of available space in the users' neighbourhood [using Google Maps API], and a community forum, enabling us to share our experiences with a greater audience. In this way, we want to design a model for other groups to follow and provide a set of central resources.
