Environmental Services - Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands
With the RESILIO project, 10.000 m2 of smart blue-green roofs are being realized in Amsterdam. This is necessary because it is raining more often and harder, while it is also getting hotter. Excess rainwater is stored underneath a green layer of plants on the roof. The water is retained by a smart valve connected to the weather forecast. That way we keep our feet dry and our heads cool. The roofs provide space for new nature which is good for the biodiversity in the city. This is how we make the roofs come alive!Partners The smart blue-green roof project RESILIO is a collaboration of the Municipality of Amsterdam, Waternet, MetroPolder Company, Rooftop Revolution, Hogeschool van Amsterdam (HvA), Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU), Stadgenoot, the Alliantie and De Key. The project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund through the Urban Innovative Actions Initiative.
