RESQ/CO was created for a number of reasons, the number one spot going to a very special service pup named "Moose" who came into the life of our founder and made a world of difference. In 2007 our founder was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a debilitating disease that came on strong and fast. Shortly after diagnosis, due to the progression of the disease and the heavy stress she had working as a graphic designer in the action sports industry, she was forced to limit her working hours. This eventually ended in her leaving the fast-paced industry entirely. With newfound time on her hands and Moose by her side, she started getting involved in local animal rescue organizations, learned of the magnitude of shelter over-population and soon became a regular foster parent for shelter animals that needed homes. Eager to stay busy, stay creative and maintain her independence she turned to the things she loved: her dog and good design. After many days spent seaside, watching Moose and countless dogs enjoy the fresh air and freedom, she found her inspiration and the idea of RESQ/CO was born. Utilizing skills she had developed through years as a designer, combined with her passion for helping animals, she drew from old techniques and fabrications used in boating and ranching and transformed them into quality, hand-made goods for dogs.
