REY employs youth apprenticed in restorative justice to train others in how to build community, repair harm, and transform institutions. We consult with individuals, families, and organizations in trainings on RJ 101, Implicit Bias, Trauma Informed curriculum, Healing and Support Circles, and Youth Led Circles.REY defines restorative justice as a philosophy rooted in practices by different Indigenous groups from around the world who view the community as one moving piece. If there is disruption with one person, there is disruption to the whole community. By caring for the person, we care for the community.REY is based in Houston, and we recognize that the land upon which we live was originally inhabited by the Karankawa, Atakapa-Ishak, Akokisa and Sana peoples. We recognize that we cannot learn from Indigenous practices of restorative justice without naming the harms perpetrated against Indigenous people in this nation, including the stealing of their lands. Because restorative justice is a philosophy of communal harm repair, REY acknowledges the need to address all of America's sins, including the enslavement of Indigenous peoples from Africa.
