Richard is also known for his beautiful nature and landscape images. He has two books in print, The Lewis & Clark Trail American Landscapes, where he followed the trail at the same time of year as the explorers and placed their journal entries about certain places next to the appropriate images. His second book Great Smoky Mountains National Park: Thirty Years of American Landscapes, is the best-selling coffee table book in Great Smoky Mountains NP stores.
