Ridgeway Kite has created a new set of tools for reservoir simulation, developed by a team of highly experienced reservoir engineering professionals. The simulator aims to harness advances in modern computing hardware that deliver massively increased performance coupled with capabilities and workflows to improve the quality of reservoir engineering of both conventional and unconventional reservoirs.Delivered through a single software license, engineers are free to run on as many cpus (or gpus), with as many realizations as they wish. This increases confidence in their results, thus significantly reducing the software cost overhead. The multiple realizations incorporate built in support for sensitivities, experimental design, history matching, development optimization, forecasting, and optimization for uncertainty. The simulator, 6X is typically used as a decision support tool for development planning in Unconventional Resources. 6X addresses questions around well spacing, completion design, and tools. This allows engineers to evaluate the number and length of stages, the number of perforations, and injection schedule. The simulator uniquely incorporates the geomechanics of the reservoir to determine the shape, extent and conductive properties of each fracture stage on each well, and the effect that the fracturing has on existing nearby wells.6X models the life cycle of multi-well sections. This starts with the fracturing of the first well, through to the end of production of the last well, accounting for fracture generation, closure and well interference. Calibrated models can be used to investigate the effects of well spacing, well timing, stage length, cluster spacing, job size and infill well location and design.
