Ringer is a bi-monthly magazine for the Australian Shearing Industry, the first edition was distributed in June 2008. Ringer is free and available from any shearing supply outlets or contractors who would like to be distributors, and by subscription (where only the postage is paid for). Ringer has been developed by Donna Gurney in Hay NSW, where she was born and bred. Donna readily admits that she has never worked in the shearing industry, but she has a huge amount of respect for those people who do. Also she will tell you that she has a very good pedigree, her grandfather was a shearing contractor, her father and uncles all worked in various capacities within the sheds, her mother was a shearer's cook for a time, she was married to a New Zealand shearer for 11 years and her youngest son has recently completed a shearing school after working as a woolhandler for the last 18 months. Donna's area of expertise lays in Business Management, Desktop Publishing and Promotions, so she is hoping that she can marry these skills, together with her overwhelming desire to give the Australian Shearing Industry it's own voice, and produce a magazine that is informative, entertaining and an asset to the shearing community. Donna would be grateful for any suggestions that you might have for Ringer, contact her on 0404 594 274
