Roar Pursuits CIC is an innovative, non-profit delivering life skills training designed by care leavers for care leavers and looked after children. We aim to prevent young care leavers from 'falling off the cliff' at the age of 18 onwards. Roar Pursuits has a 6-week programme of life skills training and mentoring with 'life hacks' designed by care leavers, for care leavers. We currently operate in Manchester and London.Care leavers make up a minimum of 30% of people who are street homeless - Roar targets one of the root causes of homelessness by working with vulnerable young people leaving care for early-intervention and prevention. The leaving care guidance and training include a year of ongoing support, into-employment support, business brokerage, trauma treatment, help with young parents and a dedicated app. The training has been trialed and tested in London with 121 young people; receiving an APSE award and high results of 76% overall onward employment. We work with a variety of stakeholders and partners to ensure we don't duplicate work being done by others and ensure we can offer a wrap around holistic support in terms of signposting and referral routes. Our support for care leavers is designed specifically with the intention of improving outcomes for this vulnerable group of young people leaving care, we aim to reduce homeless incidence, increase employability, teach money priorities and soft skills to enable these young people to achieve the very best possible outcomes. And to start life 'With a Roar!'
