Health, Wellness & Fitness - Rochester, New York, United States
Rochester Lifestyle Medicine Institute (RLMI) is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization whose mission is to transform the practice of medicine by empowering patients to take control of their health through the use of Lifestyle Medicine therapies, especially the adoption of Whole-Food Plant-Based (WFPB) nutrition, and to make Lifestyle Medicine the Standard of Care for our ailing health care system. A staggering 45% or 133 million of all Americans in the United States suffer from chronic lifestyle diseases including type-2 diabetes, heart disease, obesity, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol that are taking a toll on individuals' overall well-being, as well as the nation's economy. It is conclusive that lifestyle choices can reverse and/or prevent these and other chronic diseases. Lifestyle choices also have a direct impact on the environment, which is likewise in jeopardy. The ever increasing demand for animal based food products is devastating our earth's resources, is a major source of climate change, and is simply unsustainable. Moving to a WFPB diet helps both the individual and planet earth's health. To address these health issues, RLMI has developed a scalable model for Lifestyle Medicine and currently reaches community members and medical practitioners in the greater Rochester, NY area, nationally, and looking forward to branching out internationally in the near future. RLMI's programs and business model are structured to be attractive to practitioners and offers life changing benefits to patients, a win-win. RLMI's target market includes practitioners because large healthcare systems are focused on their own issues of survival, while government officials are influenced by opposing special interest groups, and politicians focus on who should pay, rather than why costs are so high, with dismal results. Lifestyle Medicine has the potential to drastically reduce medical costs and radically improve patient outcomes.
