Music - Rochester, Minnesota, United States
The Rochester Music Guild is an organization which was founded in 1963 with the express purpose of promoting and enhancing music enrichment in our community. Seventy women attended the first Annual Meeting in 1964 at which Mary Lu Cervania was elected Founding President.Formed in January 1965, the Scholarship Committee has been a longtime centerpiece of the Guild work. The annual Scholarship Competition challenges students to excel in their musical performance while helping the competition winners fund their music education. Educational programs include our free Lunch & Learn events as well as the Young Musician Workshop series first launched in 2015. The Guild supports the Rochester Symphony Orchestra and Chorale, and many local ensembles and organizations through our grant program. We advocate for music in our community through our newsletters, website, calendar, instructor directory, social media pages, and members' involvement in the community. We are a service-oriented organization, and it is on the strength of our membership that we achieve our mission. When you become a member of the Guild, you join a group of music lovers and volunteers who want to touch the hearts and minds of others through music. We thank all of our members for your support and would like to encourage those of you who are not yet members to please join us in achieving these important endeavors.
