Writing is writing is writing. Right? Maybe. It depends what you want your writing to do. Let's look at what you DON'T want your writing to do. You don't want it to confuse your readers. You don't want them to fall asleep while reading. You don't want them to click to the next website and you don't want it to make them want to scratch out their eyeballs because they can't take it anymore. On the other hand, you probably DO want your readers to stick around, read more, keep your brochure, bookmark your website, subscribe to your newsletter, click the buy now button and pick up the phone to call you. If that's the case, you might do well to invest as much money in the content of your marketing materials as you do in the design. While it's true that most college graduates ought to be able to write a coherent sentence, that doesn't mean that it will be a sentence that will compel your reader to act. Your employees are certainly a smart bunch, but if writing is not really high on their skill (or job priority) list, you would almost certainly save time, increase your revenues and profits, and make everyone's life easier if you simply hired a professional.
