The notorious touring pop a cappella group. Visit Rockapella.com for videos, music, and tour dates!Rockapella has traveled far in the sonic solar system since their very early collegiate roots, when an enthusiastic quartet of Brown University graduates started singing Doo-Wop on New York City's street corners. Over the decades the group has evolved into a high energy concert performance troupe that roams the globe, entertaining millions on television, internet, commercials, radio, and stages of all sorts, and influencing several generations of young vocal performers. The moniker, "Rockapella", points to an artful meld of rock, pop, and a cappella. The group has never shied away from a focus on genuine entertainment and originality, rather than carbon-copy material. One of the earliest producers of original music in the a cappella genre, that tradition continues, merged together with completely original takes on existing hits. The group is best known in the USA as the innovative entertainers whose wit and tunes were the jet-thrusters for the 295 episodic voyages of the PBS kid-TV smash "Where In the World is Carmen Sandiego?", and they've been all over the entertainment map since, appearing first in the early '90s on PBS's "Spike & Co.: Do It A Cappella" special hosted by Spike Lee, and with Whoopi Goldberg on her early TV specials. Their resume also includes multiple national jingles on and off-camera for Folgers coffee, Mounds/Almond Joy, Doritos, Taco Bell, & many other products, custom promos for NBC's The Today Show, and an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The group has also stretched out occasionally into the instrumental world, touring multiple times with the Boston Pops Orchestra. With their smooth dance moves and unique & mellifluous New-Motown contemporary harmonies, they are probably as close as you might come in the 21st Century to charisma of The Temptations.
