Arts & Crafts - Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands
Rockarchive has become the world's finest print archive specialising in rock and roll imagery. Many of Rockarchive's contributors were instrumental in shaping the iconic identities of rock music's greatest musicians. Whether capturing the spirit of a live show, collaborating directly with musicians to create an unforgettable record cover, or shooting timeless documentary images, our photographers have worked and continue to work directly at the source. Rockarchive follows in the footsteps of collectives like Magnum. Its general philosophy is to accord recognition to the art of rock photography and to help maintain the rights of its practitioners. Since 2004 a branch of Rockarchive was opened in Amsterdam, in the heart of the Jordaan, the cultural heart of the city. The Amsterdam gallery added Dutch photographers Lex van Rossen and Dimitri Hakke to the international collective and now also represents Gijsbert Hanekroot, the photographer for Oor magazine in the late sixties and early seventies.Rockarchive Amsterdam is proud to be the only gallery in the world to represent the illustrous French photograoher and co-founder of Rock & Folk magazine, Jean Pierre Leloir.
