Mental Health Care - Denver, Colorado, United States
VISION: Our vision is to build a local and global community that supports and carries the narrative spirit. We want to work with folks to help them re -story problems by finding counter stories and taking a stand. We hope this empowers those around us to recognize that they are not their problems and are not forever tied to the burdens they carry.MISSION: The Rocky Mountain Narrative Therapy Center strives to create a hub for budding and veteran Narrative therapists to continue to discover new skills. We hope this hub will be of service in multiple ways. First, to serve more people in the community by offering and connecting individuals to more services and resources. We also strive to create a training center and a space where learning is always, ideas are experimented with and narrative continues to blossom in spirit and action. Thirdly we strive to provide a space to collaborate with other therapists and continue to perfect the art of restoration of beauty and love. INTRODUCTION: The Rocky Mountain Narrative Therapy Center was co- Founded by the well-established Denver Narrative therapist, Travis Heath, IDP graduate, Maile Grace and Doctoral student in Counselor Education and Supervision, David Matheson. These three were united through similar world beliefs and commitment to the growing practice of Narrative Therapy. We strive to act as archaeologists of hope allowing it to fill every room and conversation. THE TEAM: Travis Heath's work shifts from a multicultural approach to counseling to one of cultural democracy inviting people to heal in mediums that are culturally near. Dave Matheson's interests include the impact of neoliberalism on counselor education and the use of Narrative Therapy as a means of privileging the person of the counselor within his work as a supervisor and instructor. Maile Grace works to break traditional barriers and stigmas of mental health, as well as restore vitality in the client the profession.
