ROLE UK Details
The Rule of Law Expertise Programme (ROLE UK) is funded by the Department for International Development (DFID). We aim to improve the rule of law in DFID priority countries by facilitating access to specialist UK legal and judicial expertise. Experts from the legal sector (judges, solicitors, barristers, legislative draftsmen, magistrates) offer information, advice, mentoring, training or other assistance to improve the policies, capacity and practices that underpin the rule of law. We also share learning and best practice and improve the co-ordination of the international pro-bono legal sector in the UK. Role UK works in 27 DFID Priority countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Burma, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Liberia, Malawi, Mozambique, Nepal, Nigeria, Occupied Palestinian Territories, Pakistan, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, South Sudan, Tajikistan, Tanzania, Uganda, Yemen, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
