Rooftops Consulting was born out of necessity after finding glaring gaps in healthcare for LGBTQ folks in Knoxville, TN. Our founder, Cassie, started as a professional therapist offering coaching services to folks trying to figure out what it meant to be LGBTQ in conservative Southern communities. Eventually, this shifted to a simmering anger at the cruelty of rejection and the endless stories about discrimination and feelings of isolation experienced by LGBTQ people. Knoxville's queer community can tell you stories of healthcare provider after provider spewing offensive lies, misgendering folks, or at the very least curled foreheads in confusion when they hear "cis", "code switching", or "intersex". Our founder, Cassie, believed in something better. Rooftops was created to identify gaps in resources and services for Knoxville's LGBTQ community. We seek to fulfill this goal by providing LGBTQ+ education workshops to the Knoxville healthcare community, supporting LGBTQ organizations and leaders in Knoxville with our time and resources, and by providing coaching and counseling services and referrals that are trauma-informed and made specifically for the queer community by its queer professionals.
