Roots: Colorado Springs Homeless Collective is a student organization at Colorado College. Roots was founded in 2018 after the merger of two former student organizations, Grits Collective and Ponderosa Project. Student members actively collaborate with local community partner organizations and use art and storytelling to shift the narrative around homelessness in Colorado Springs. Our Vision: We strive to work with all members of the community to end homelessness.Our Mission: To foster relationships between students and members of the greater Colorado springs community to promote humanizing and inclusive dialogue surrounding homelessness; provide creative programming for members of our community experiencing homelessness; and deepen the relationship between Colorado College and the broader Colorado Springs community through sustained partnerships with local organizations.
