Roseswap started with a dozen roses and the belief that we can use what we have to better the lives of others. Derek White founded Roseswap in 2013 as a social network of do-gooders that would function like a Facebook for giving. But he was stuck, people were talking about helping each other, but not putting feet to their words. Enter Michael Lynn, film producer and serial entrepreneur, who met with Derek in January of 2014. Here they hatched a plan to develop an organization that would be able to utilize the skills of individuals and businesses to generate cash flow and help everyone involved.Over the next couple of months, they had submitted to the start-up incubator BetaBlox in Kansas City, MO. Wes Bergmann and his savvy team of investors had selected Rosewap out of 500 companies to participate in the Kansas City incubator. With that piece of validation, Michael Lynn moved to Kansas City, MO to run Roseswap. While Derek took some time off of Roseswap to work on his music and spend time with his family, Michael began the process of living the Lean Start-Up. First, he connected with The Marty Connection, one of Kansas City's oldest networking groups. There he met Eliza Cantlay, Marianne Worthington, and Tyler Craig, who would become invaluable advisors for the young Roseswap. The Roseswap mission never changed, but the process did, as Michael and his team sought the best way to help businesses and the community. After a meeting with Seth Meinzen, the current version of Roseswap was suggested. A free incentive-based club for business owners to buy and sell to each other at a 75% discount. The Missouri based Roseswap was founded September 5, 2014 is on pace to reach its goal of 600 Kansas City businesses by November 2014.
