In cooking, a roux serves as the base of a sauce, often formed by melting butter and whisking in flour. When prepared properly, roux has a simple, wonderful smell. For us, the smell of roux is nostalgic, yet wistful. It's a memory just beyond our reach. We want Roux to be an expression of this bittersweetness. So often media and fashion become ways to reject, avoid, and escape from the negative emotions and experiences. Instead, we want Roux to be a medium to embrace and explore those feelings: It's never too late to grow, to explore, to wonder. Yes, on one level, we are just a streetwear brand. But, we want to grow into a community. Roux will be a home away from home for those who feel lost in this world and want to find others like them.
