The Royalty Claim Initiative (RCI) is an ongoing research project led by its Founder & Chief Researcher, Dae Bogan, MIA.RCI conducts extensive research into the global music licensing ecosystem. Our researchers tap a number of public and private sources to procure data for our work. Our data scientists and data analysts leverage and build a variety of modeling, analytics, and insights tools to help the team make sense of millions of rows of raw data.RCI also analyze data related to music consumption (e.g. downloads, streams, sales), broadcasts, performances, and other types of data to identify trends from which we can interpret insights into the global music licensing ecosystem. From time to time, we will publish our findings and offer strategic recommendations to improve the well-being of music creators and rightsholders. Our mission is to aid in providing transparency that creates access to information that has an economic impact on music creators and rightsholders around the world. The Royalty Claim Platform is the world's first publicly accessible online aggregated database of unclaimed entitlements such as royalties and music licenses. For the first time, music creators and rightsholders are able to quickly search, find, and claim their entitlement in certain unclaimed royalties and music licenses. The Royalty Claim Platform is powered by the Royalty Claim Initiative. RCI researchers and data scientists locate, retrieve, synthesize and import an array of data and records that reference statutory notifications of certain music licenses, unattributed royalties (so-called "Black Box" royalties) and settlements; and income participants (payees) in undistributed royalties that stem from collective bargaining agreements, international reciprocal agreements, statutory royalties, and more. The platform is free to use for any music creator, rightsholder, beneficiary, or researcher.
