The origins of RUGUI date back to 1953, where a small forge (which back in the day was ROMAN UCIN) was engaged in the manufacture of farming tools and equipment. Subsequently, in 1977, Román Ucín, set aside the task of forging farming tools to install a rolling mill. At the time Rugui was only the commercial name of the forge carried out at Román Ucín. In the light of the increased activity and that the facilities were becoming too small, the company Román Ucín became Laminados Ondarre in 1987. A warehouse was built next to the old rolling mill facilities with the purpose of enlarging the facilities, range and product sections. Finally, in 2010 RUGUI became what we know today. The company underwent a significant transformation since 2007, where a strong internationalisation and expansion process was chosen, a vertical integration including steel melting facilities with induction furnaces, a ladle treatment unit, a vacuum unit and a continuous casting process (RUGUI MELT), a new hot rolling mill increasing the product range notably (RUGUI OLVEGA) and a cold-drawing facility (RUGUI BRIGHTS). In 2015, state-of-the-art peeling and ultrasound detection lines came into service.
