WE CAN DO IT BETTER.The bulk of our subsystems are built in house using our own designs and concepts. This allows us to build systems that are cheaper and more specialized than those available commercially. In fact, our pod itself costs only $60,000 to build while we need $150,000 to test, ship, travel, and compete!WE LIVE FOR SPEED.Our pod is designed to complete the mile long test track in 23 seconds at a top speed of approximately 215 mph. We believe this will allow us to be one of the top placing teams in the speed category at competition weekend.WE USE LITTLE POWER.Our systems exist at the bottom of a potential well, which means they are constantly seeking an equilibrium. It also means our levitation and primary control systems require no power at all! A small, custom-built 350 Wh battery powers all of our systems and can be used for multiple test runs.WE DESIGN FOR SAFETY.The Hyperloop has been criticized in the past for being too unsafe. With this in mind, we designed all of our critical systems to have high safety factors and to be redundant where possible. Our dual braking system means our pod will always stop in just a few hundred meters, even if our pod loses power.
