As good stewards of the running community, it pains us deeply when we learn of fellow-runners being murdered, involved in hit & run incursions with vehicles, or succumbing to injury or illness while out on a run. We wanted our endurance sport community to be directly connected with their friends during their independent exercise - but the market did not provide a smartphone app that would allow loved ones to monitor their athlete and receive in-the-moment alerts should their loved one need help.This is why we invented RunBuddy! RunBuddy is not another fitness tracker. Rather, it is a personal alarm system for the endurance sport community. Since 64% of runners already carry smartphones, we use the technology that is already in their hands to allow RunBuddy-users to select friends to watch them in real-time, as well as receive in-app alerts when they begin & end an activity, if they stop moving, move too quickly, their phone is smashed, or they press the on-screen Panic Button.
