The Rural Refugee Network (RRN) was set up in 2015 by a group of volunteers in the Hampshire and West Sussex area with the express aim of taking practical action to help the current Syrian Refugee crisis. To date RRN has found accommodation for over 30 refugees who are, as a direct result of the accommodation we've sourced, now living in the UK. Our support extends to providing new arrivals with the support they need to settle successfully into our communities. We work in partnership with relevant local authorities and charities who provide professional case worker support as well as with a large team of managed and trained RRN volunteers. We also work to share our processes with other communities across the UK (and on occasion internationally) so that we can inspire others to rescue refugees and provide them with some of the key tools to help them achieve that. In 2017 we created and launched a Guide to Welcoming Syrian Refugees. RRN secured partnership from Citizens UK, the UNHCR, Refugee Action, Refugee Council, Migrants Organise, City of Sanctuary and the British Red Cross. Over 7,000 copies of this Guide have been issued across the UK to date. We are currently working towards other ways to help share this knowledge. Our group is made up of 80+ volunteers including a Trustee Board of eight. Our team come from a cross section of socitey and include senior level leaders from health and social care, business, education, construction, media, creative industries and planning. RRN is a registered charity (charitable number 1165796).
