Based in Philadelphia, Russian Opera Workshop is a unique independent summer training program for undergraduate and graduate voice/opera majors, and emerging opera singers. Russian Opera Workshop was founded in 2011 by Ghenady Meirson, a long-time faculty member at both the Academy of Vocal Arts and Curtis Institute of Music. During the summers, the program is in residence at the Academy of Vocal Arts. Each session focuses on one Russian opera, and offers daily Russian language classes, diction and vocal training. In addition, the program offers vocal masterclasses that are focused on standard, non-Russian aria repertoire. Over the years, master class faculty have included Angela Meade, Stephen Costello, Benita Valente, Florence Quivar, Sally Wolf, Brian Hymel, Thor Eckert, William Stone and Sandra Hormozi.
