Focused on improving functional literacy and advocating for progressive teacher and Principal training, from 1999 to 2012 Sa Aklat Sisikat Foundation (SAS) worked with almost 911 schools, directly impacted 177,327 Grade 4 students and 4,690 public school teachers, and Principals; as well as indirectly impacted >1,000,000 Filipinos through its re-echoing workshops. SAS was also responsible for being the largest single purchaser of local children's books, distributing close to 200,000 over a decade. In 2012, SAS was folded into Teach for the Philippines.
