Retail - Oakland, California, United States
We are a grassroots led non-profit dedicated to increasing equity in the local food system. We were initiated after a successful community organizing campaign at the City of Oakland in 2019 where 120 corner store owners, immigrants of Arab and Yemeni backgrounds, organize for an equitable allocation of Soda Tax revenues. Store owners demanded the systematic barriers to access in the local food supply chain to be addressed in the city. Saba was initiated after a budget allocation from city council to explore opportunities of improvement to the local food system.
