Sacred Heart College (Autonomous) Kochi is a grant-in aid private college affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala established in 1944. The College is managed by the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), a Christian religious congregation founded by St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, the first Christian saint of Kerala. The CMI Congregation manages a network of over 500 institutions in India and abroad, including more than 250 schools, about 50 arts and science colleges, 1 University, 1 Medical college, 5 Engineering College, 12 Technical colleges, 18 non-formal educational institutions, 17 cultural centres etc. The college offers 20 UG, 19 PG, 1 Integrated PG programmes and 7 Doctoral programmes.Sacred Heart was one among the pioneers to seek assessment and accreditation by NAAC and was accredited with Five-Star status in 2000. In the subsequent accreditations the college was accorded A+ ,A,A+ Grade in 2007,2013 & 2022 respectively. The College has been rated the Best College in the state and one among the first 25 colleges in India in Arts, Science and Commerce by India Today and The Week Magazines since 2014.
