At the end of 2019, I stepped down from being CEO of a company I had run for many years. I decided to take a break to try my hand at some new things I was interested in but had no experience in. I bought around 5 acres of land in front of a beautiful lake 50 minutes outside of Guadalajara, Mexico (Villa Corona, Jalisco) to learn about construction, energy, food, water filtration and in general... being self-sustainable. The farm features 6 cabins, self composting toilets (that don't smell), a beautiful underground firepit for 15 people, a 20 meter long pool made out of stone, an outdoor Palapa kitchen, 2 houses made with superadobe, a 700 sq mt greenhouse, 137 chickens (lots more to come), fish farming, and much more. We are really out in the middle of nowhere. This place is wild. There are snakes, wolves, coyotes, mountain cats, rabbits, owls, eagles, turtles... We are in front of a beautiful lake that is a home for migration of many species of birds. The concept of the place is not just for it to be another hotel. The idea is that you can come and learn about all these sustainable technologies that we have working at the farm. We play around with lots of themes including greywater systems, ozonation, aquaponics, UV, solar water heaters. composting toilets and biogas generation. We will show you how all these different systems work so maybe you'll be interested in how you can make your own as well. It'll be optional for each to group to choose to also do a project with their hands while staying at the farm. The farm has one large roundhouse (for 2) and 6 cozy cabins (meant for only sleeping) so it can sleep 14 in total. You'll be able to rent the whole farm for your group (friends, family, coworkers) for getaways, celebrations, retreats, etc
