Safely Connected (SC), The Eating Disorder Centre aims to deconstruct normalized disordered eating behaviors and thoughts throughout college campuses in the United States and Canada, and offer peer support services to those suffering from eating disorders, disordered eating and body image issues. SC aims to be an anti-ableist, anti-racist and anti-colonialist, fat- and body-positive, queer- and trans-positive organization. Our chapters offer support services that are free of charge, confidential, and non-judgmental, and we strive to centre the experiences and perspectives of those who use them. We strive to ensure that they are tangibly relevant to and made for folks who have lived experience with eating disorders or disordered eating, while working within a trauma-informed and harm-reductive framework. Our trainings include external facilitator presentations around the intersections of queerness, racism and ableism and eating disorders, and allow volunteers to provide inclusive, knowledgeable and affirming peer support.
