The mission of Saint John's Program for Real Change (formerly St. John's Shelter for Women and Children) is to unleash the potential of mothers in crisis to improve their quality of life and enrich the lives of their families. Since our founding on the steps of St. John’s Lutheran Church in 1985, Saint John’s has been the unique solution for the woman who is ready to fight the cycle of homelessness, poverty, and abuse. The woman who understands, unequivocally, that the journey towards a better life – for herself and for her family – starts entirely with her. We provide mental health services, housing, transportation, children’s programs, career education, and on-the-job training through Plates Café and Catering, Plates2go, and First Steps Child Development Center, so mothers become empowered to embark on a path towards independence and success.
